First Entry

Welcome to Dogger's News. This is a blog for family and friends as "our boy" gets ready to undergo a stem-cell transplant for his Lymphoma.

Posts placed here will pertain to how he/we/us are doing, any news or developments. Why is it that the first posts always stink? :)

Oh well! Well, here's the latest updated.

On 12/14 Dogger had his last 2 wisdom teeth removed. (Guess he's as "wisdomed" as he's going to get! lol) He has to be cleared by the Dentist before his case can be presented to the insurance company for final approval for the transplant. He's healed up just fine and was funnier than a stitch while sedated (gotta love twilight!). A funny story to share! More to follow later.

I spoke to the Dentists office yesterday (12/16) and they just need to see him to repair a filling and he's all set. Once the information is presented to the insurance company, we should have a response within a short period of time.

Today (12/17), Dogger is finishing up his second day of chemo. This is the last (hopefully) cycle of Cytoxan (sounds pleasant doesn't it!). This chemotherapy is very strong and harsh (fortunately its only 2 days) but its given us some good results and has definitely slowed down the regrowth of the Lymphoma. Unfortunately the doctors feel its too harsh to use as a long term solution, so we prepare for transplant.

Christian has confirmed he'll be the donor, so the next step is to bring him to Florida for a day for some tests and blood draw. Then he'll be "free" until its time for the transplant and will be in town for 1 week. I think if we add up all the hours that we'll need him for, it totals out to 2 maybe 2 1/2 days. Amazing isn't it?! In that short of a period of time what they can do! And the great part for Christian, this is non-invassive. He sits in a chair for a few hours for possibly 2 days...that's it. All done! No surgery, no restrictions...nada. Just amazing!

If anyone has any questions about this process, how it works, what's going to happen or how you can help...just give us a call. I'll be glad to answer any questions or provide updates.

Our new motto, "We turn down no prayers." So I ask that you please continue to keep Dogger in your prayers. He's a wonderful man and I know we'll get through this successfully together.

More later! Much love...Me :)
